RE: Connelly Lake Hydro Project, near Haines, Alaska
Please accept this letter as my expressed support for the Alaska Powe
and Telephone proposed Connelly Lake Hydro Project. I believe that tj
project makes sense and should be taken to the next level of study.
I am a year-round resident of Haines and have lived in Alaska since
'1975. During those years I have noticed and appreciated the benefit of
new and increased supplies of reliable power generation. The Connelly
Lake project is perfectly suited for the Haines area. The site is located in
an area that will offer little or no negative impacts to the environment or
It is my belief that there is wide -spread community support for the
project with the exception of a small, but vocal element of people who for
the most part are opposed to all projects in general.
I feel that it would be best to move the Connelly Lake project to the nex
stage of development. By doing so, there will be drawings and other da
in place so an environmental review of the actual project can then pass
through the prescribed permitting process for public comment. At this
time it is premature to be opposed to the project as there has been no
design work done that could be used to judge any impacts. I
