To Whom It May Concern:
The Northwest Arctic Borough recently engaged in a regional energy summit that helped
to bring residents from across the region together to discuss issues regarding the energy
crisis that is recently hit our region and all parts of rural Alaska. It was during this
summit that residents from across the Northwest Region were able to come together to
gather information on alternative energy sources and ways to be energy efficient and
effective. Every alternative source within our region will be studied and infonnation
gathered for feasibility within each of our communities.
It is with great pleasure that the Northwest Arctic Borough support the Northwest Inupiat
I-lousing Authority (NIHA) in their development of a comprehensive program to install
solar water heaters on home and other buildings within the region. This project will be
one of many projects that will help our residents reach their goal of energy efficiency and
creation of alternative energy sources.
The Northwest Arctic Borough will continue to support the program through NIHA and
offer resources and services whenever possible.
