Dear Mr. White:
The Yukon Koyukuk School District is pleased to submit two alternative energy grant
applications. One is for a Districtwide Reconnaissance Study to evaluate the potential for
alternative energy to provide for heating and electrical needs within our District and the
other focuses on development of a wood biomass project to provide heat for the Kaltag
School. Attached with the applications is a resolution from the District School Board
authorizing the application for these two projects.
The District will match the Districtwide Reconnaissance Study grant with a $5,000
contribution of in-kind staff labor. The District will provide a $2,500 in-kind contribution of
staff labor and a $15,000 cash match for the Kaltag wood biomass project. The resolution
does not specifically address the commitment of the local match but this was discussed at
the Board meeting and it is within my authority as Superintendent to commit this level of
funding to these two projects.
The District's project manager and point of contact for both applications is Kathy Christy.
The Board concurs with this delegation. The current resolution does not state this but
again it is within my authority as Superintendent to make this assignment of responsibility.
As Superintendent, I certify that the Yukon Koyukuk School District is in compliance with
all federal, state and local laws, including existing credit and federal tax obligations.
Should it be required in the future the School Board can amend the resolution as required
to incorporate the information provided above.

opportunity provided to find solutions to the ever increasing energy costs in rural Alaska.
