HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 09-06 (2)Yukon Koyukuk School District Administrative & Support Offices 4762 Old Airport Way Fairbanks, Alaska 99709 Kerry Boyd Yukon -Koyukuk School District Telephone: (907) 374-9400 Superintendent Resolution 09-06 Fax: (907) 374-9440 A Resolution of the Yukon Koyukuk School District approving application to the Alaska Energy Authority Renewable Energy Grant Program WHEREAS, the Alaska Energy Authority Renewable Energy Grant Program provides grant funding to support the development of renewable energy sources in Alaska; and WHEREAS, adequate the high cost of fuel in rural Alaska is competing for the limited funding available to educate our children and consuming an increasingly larger portion of the District budget; and WHEREAS, the schools are the largest facilities and have the greatest power and fuel consumption in the communities in our District; and WHEREAS, the Yukon Koyukuk School District is responsible for providing for the operation and maintenance of the District Schools and teacher housing; and WHEREAS, an adequate learning environment requires appropriate heat and electrical service; and WHEREAS, everyone benefits if alternative energy can reduce our schools dependence on fossil fuels; and WHEREAS, the communities in our District have potential for the development of wood, water and geothermal energy sources; and WHEREAS, the AEA grant program provides the resources to identify and design cost effective alternative energy systems for our schools; and NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that the Yukon Koyukuk School District is authorized to request funding from the Alaska Energy Authority for the following projects: Districtwide Reconnaissance Study for eight schools Feasibility and Final Design for Kaltag School Wood Fired Boiler PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED BY THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE YUKON- KOYUKUK SCHOOL DISTRICT THIS 241h DAY OF October, 2008.
