History & Offices
EVERGREEN ENGINEERING established in 1985 in Eugene, Oregon, is a multi-
discipline, full service consulting engineering firm. An office was opened in the Portland
area in 1998, followed by offices in Boise, Idaho, Santa Clara, California, Albany, New
York, and Atlanta, Georgia.
Services
Evergreen specializes in mechanical, civil/structural, electrical, and
chemical/environmental engineering primarily for the power, wood products, resin and
formaldehyde, pulp and paper, semiconductor, and metals industries. Evergreen
provides these services throughout North America.
Our engineers, process specialists, technical designers, and support staff have the
experience and creativity to provide our clients with innovative and cost-effective
designs. Our services include: planning, scheduling, feasibility studies, preliminary
engineering, capital estimates, detail engineering, process design, environmental
permitting, purchasing, construction and startup assistance, and project management.
Evergreen also has current staff experience in successful environmental permitting of
energy facilities. This includes state and federal-level construction and operating
permits for air and water discharges from central station power plants (750 MW coal,
1100 MW nuclear, and 800 MW combined-cycle combustion turbine), simple-cycle
combustion turbine peaking and standby plants (natural gas, oil and dual-fuel up to 300
MW ), and wood/bark-fueled boilers and process heaters at forest products
manufacturing sites (40,000 – 200,000 lb. steam/hour). This experience includes
permit to construct applications, modeling plans, dispersion modeling in simple and
complex terrain, visibility modeling for Class I area and regional haze impacts, NSR and
PSD applications (including RACT/BACT /LAER analyses), agency liaison and
negotiations, and preparation of both State and Federal Title V permit applications.

Staff
Between the two offices, Evergreen has a total staff of about 135 full time employees,
90% of whom are registered engineers, degreed engineers, designers, and draftsman.
If required by the demands of a project, we can quickly add qualified personnel to our
staff from our network of proven engineers and designers.
Projects
Some of our recent power projects include: Teledyne W ah Chang (six, 2.5 MW natural
gas reciprocation engines with waste heat recovery), Thompson River Co-Gen (16.5
MW extraction, wood and coal fired), and W eyerhaeuser (multiple pulp and paper plant
steam turbine plants). W e have completed numerous others over our 20 year history.
Key Evergreen staff members have experience in power plants with steam capacities in
excess of 3.5 MM lb/hr, and generating capacities in excess of 450MW .
Evergreen has successfully completed design engineering for projects valued from a
few thousand dollars to over $100 million. Examples are a $60 million MDF plant
located in Georgia for Georgia-Pacific, a $15 million woodyard modification for Mead
Paper in Michigan, and a $150 million California rice straw MDF facility feasibility study.
W e have also completed “cold weather” projects in Maine, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula,
New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia which required special designs for the civil, structural,
and mechanical elements of the projects.
Insurance
Evergreen carries insurance coverage meeting the requirements of
our clients and local jurisdictions as well as Errors and Emissions
Insurance (E&O).
