Real-time remote data acquisition
monitoring and control
Are you a wind farm manager? Wouldn't you like to...
• have 24 x 7 real-time turbine data for your entire fleet from anywhere in the world?
• spend less time and money on maintenance visits?
• get immediate warnings of critical turbine problems?
• experience less down time?
• get clear and informative reports and graphs of all turbine activity updated every few minutes?
• gain full remote control over all aspects of wind turbines in your fleet?
Are you a wind turbine manufacturer? Wouldn't you like to ...
• have a complete Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system to offer with your turbines?
• provide your customers a centralized management system with fleet -wide control and reporting features?
• easily integrate a software and hardware solution that provides these capabilities into your turbine controller?
Apterra Technologies delivers data you need to ensure accurate and effective wind farm management.
Our software and systems architecture is of the highest quality and is based on trusted technologies for
exceptional performance and reliability.
Hawkeye Remote Terminal Unit
The Hawkeye Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) is a full -featured monitoring unit that integrates with wind turbine
controllers. It includes a web application that allows operators to view the turbine's current state while provid-
ing full control of the turbine and the controller's run-time parameters. This application is accessible by web
browsers, with no need for special browser plug -ins or configuration.
The RTU captures system state and statistical averages in 10-minute intervals in a format suitable for spread-
sheet or database import, delivering them electronically on a nightly basis. When used in conjunction with the
Apterra Technologies Hub Server, this data is imported into a central database for analysis and reporting. The
unit also delivers a daily summary offering a convenient snapshot of the previous day's system performance.
A real-time event trap feature facilitates turbine troubleshooting. When the RTU detects an error condition, it
creates a data file capturing the five minutes preceding and following each error event. It then sends an email
report identifying the error and including the captured performance data for review.
Features
• Ethernet accessible web application
• Configurable system control parameters
• Auto -refresh of runtime data and I/O lines
• System error listing
• Command functions (start, stop, reset, etc.)
• Data logging of critical system data
• Daily reports delivered by email
• Turbine error email notifications
• Role -based security and access control
• Secure shell administrative access

Apterra Hub Server
The Hub server provides centralized access to a network of Apterra Hawkeye Remote Terminal Units (RTUs).
This is a fleet management solution for wind farms that ties together disparate turbine data into a single,
comprehensive management application. Features include:
• Central aggregation of fleet -wide data
• Central integration and access to real-time Hawkeye Remote Terminal Units (RTUs)
• Industry standard SQL database with automated daily data backups
• Geographical mapping
• Longitudinal data reporting, e.g., daily, weekly, monthly, yearly power generation reports, etc.
• Turbine power curve reports, wind speed reports, etc.
• Graphical presentations of turbine data, e.g., gauges, dials, histograms, etc.
• Both fleet -wide and turbine -specific reporting capabilities
• Custom, user -defined data query creation and data export tools
• Fleet -wide system monitoring, alarms and alerts
• Creation and deployment of set -point profiles across entire fleet or to individual turbines,
with profile restoration and fallback capabilities
• Exception reporting, e.g., reports on turbines which are down or unresponsive
• Scheduling mechanisms for automatic turbine management and control
• Asset management tools including maintenance record -keeping and scheduling
• Single sign -on authentication: server mediates access to all RTUs
• Role -based security and application access, i.e., discrete views for different roles

About the company
Apterra Technologies crafts solutions tailored to the real -world complexities
you face, rather than the cookie -cutter approaches our larger competitors
may offer. Our overhead is low, allowing us to provide high quality services
at a highly competitive price. We're small, nimble, and responsive to your
needs.
Ted Schwartz founded Apterra Technologies in 2006, in response to the
demand for after -market Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)
systems easily integrated with a variety of turbine controllers. The company
began by targeting unique market niches benefiting from remote turbine
management, including the small wind industry and refurbished turbines,
and has since broadened its scope to serve the larger wind turbine industry.
Schwartz is a graduate of Yale University's School of Forestry and
Environmental Studies. Before launching Apterra Technologies, he started his
career as an environmental management consultant, performing work around
the globe in Arthur D. Little's Environmental Management Practice. Schwartz
began a second career in software development in 1996 and now combines
his wide-ranging experience in software design and implementation with
renewable energy management.
Apterra delivered its first SCADA unit, the Hawkeye, in early 2007 and its
fleet -wide Hub server in 2008. The company's systems are now deployed
widely in the US, Canada and the United Kingdom.
