Browerville Re: Support for Bering Straits Native Corporation's Nome Wind Farm

Diomede The Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC) in partnership with Sitnasuak
Elim Native Corporation (SNC) is looking to build a 300-500 megawatt wind farm
Emmonak in the Nome area. The goal of the project is to lower energy costs locally, and
Gambell in the future, expand the project to the regional villages. Wind is a big energy

Hooper Bay resource throughout that region, and the wind farm done in the Kotzebue area
Kaktovik was successful and demonstrated the feasibility of such projects.

Kivalina It is notable that BSNC is also looking to invest 50% of their profits from the
Kobuk wind farm into renewable energy projects throughout the region, and the
Kotlik
Kotzebue power generated from these projects will be provided at a rate below the
Koyak "avoided cost" formula, thereby providing an actual benefit to the residents.
Mountain Village
Noatak BSNC is currently applying for a USDA High Energy Cost Grant to fund this
Nome ro ect, and I am writing this letter to show support for that application, and to
