This is a letter of support for Bering Straits Native Corporation's (BSNC) United States

We whole heartedly support this application ... and hope that the project substantially
offsets the cost of electricity at BSNC's Main Office Building in Nome. We ask that
"EBBAS
BSNC share the results of the project with us so that we can undertake a similar initiative
,T MUCHAEL
at our Kawerak Buildings if your proposed project proves successful.

The cost of energy in rural Alaska has risen tremendously over the past four years or so.
Currently, here in Nome, fuel oil costs $3.70 a gallon (if you purchase 200 gallons) and
ES
electricity costs S.3063 a kilowatt hour. The cost of energy in our outlying villages is
,arraourv-rar:
even more expensive. This region experiences eight months of winter during which
1
homes and businesses must be heated and lit (October through May). We need to
identify, install and test alternative energy technology to reduce our dependence on fossil
fuels. It is for this reason that we support BSNC's application for funds to install wind
generation equipment at your building. We simply cannot afford the ever escalating cost
j
of fossil fuel.
Good luck with your application. We sincerely hope it is funded.
Sincerely,
KAWERAK INCORPORATED
