To Whom It May Concern,
Maniilaq Association endorses the Renewable Energy grant application being submitted to the Alaska
Energy Authority by the Northwest Inupiat Housing Authority IN I HA) for a woody Biomass project for
the Upper Kobuk River valley.
We plan to support this project in a number of ways.
• This project complements our Tribal Administration Department's on -going Forest
Management Plan which includes mapping that will contribute to this project. The grant
shows this activity as part of the investment to date for the project.
• Future investments in completing the Maniilaq Forest Management Plan will also
support this project.
• We will provide a representative for the planning group to help to outline ways to
effectively involve the communities of Ambler, Kobuk and Shungnak during project
development.
• We are also committed to support the project by participating in coordination meetings
with the project team and with the communities.
