TRIBAL COUNCIL
CHILKOOT INDIAN ASSOCIATION
TITLE: The Chilkoot Indian Association authorizes the submittal of an application
requesting funds from the Renewable Energy Grant Program operated by the
Alaska Energy Authority. For the installation of the Chilkoot Estates Subdivision’s
Energy Efficient Heating System; and the Chilkoot Indian Association hereby
authorizes Greg Stuckey, Tribal Administrator to be our representative to the
Alaska Energy Authority for the project.
WHEREAS; the Chilkoot Indian Association of Haines, Alaska is a duly constituted and
Federally Recognized Sovereign Indian Tribe organized pursuant to the authority of the
Acts of Congress of June 18, 1934 (49 Stat. 908) as amended by the Acts of June 15th and
May 1, 1936,” and,
WHEREAS, the Tribal Council of the Chilkoot Indian Association consists of a seven-
member council that is empowered to act for and on the behalf of it’s Tribal Members;
and,
WHEREAS, the Chilkoot Indian Association Tribal Council is authorized by the
Constitution and By-Laws ratified on December 5, 1941 and amended on May 16th, 2007
to manage and control all governmental activities of the Chilkoot Indian Association;
and,
WHEREAS, the Chilkoot Indian Association Tribal Council hereby authorizes Greg
Stuckey, Tribal Administrator to be our representative and point of contact for the Alaska
Energy Authorities Renewable Energy Grant Program; and,
WHEREAS, the Chilkoot Indian Association Tribal Council hereby affirms that the tribe
is in compliance with all federal state, and local, laws including existing credit and
federal tax obligations; and,
WHEREAS, the Chilkoot Indian Association Tribal Council requests project funding for
the amount of $398,529.60 as indicated in the tribes Alaska Energy Authorities
Renewable Energy Grant application; and,
WHEREAS, The Chilkoot Indian Association also pledges $42,699.60 of our Tribal
resources to the completion of this project limited only to the funding of this grant
application; and,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Chilkoot Indian Association Tribal
Council hereby approves our application to the Alaska Energy Authorities Renewable
Energy Grant Program.
CERTIFICATION:
This resolution was duly considered and adopted at a meeting of the Chilkoot Indian
Association Tribal Council, in Haines Alaska on the day of October 2008
