RESOLUTION 08-01
A RESOLUTION TO SUPPORT ENGINEERING FINDINGS FOR THE MOST COST EFFECTIVE
REPAIRS TO HUMPBACK CREEK HYDROELECTRIC FACILITY
WHEREAS, The Humpback Creek Hydroelectric Plant was severely damaged in the October 10,
2006 flooding events in Cordova, Alaska, and
WHEREAS, the community of Cordova through Cordova Electric Cooperative Inc. has relied on the
production of local, renewable, hydroelectric power generation to directly offset the use of diesel fuel, and
WHEREAS, Cordova Electric Cooperative Inc. Board of Directors has reviewed the options for
restoring the Humpback Project to service at the best life -cycle cost of repairs; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services and the Federal
Emergency Management Agency has funding restrictions, but has the authority to consider mitigation
funding,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Directors of Cordova Electric Cooperative Inc.
supports the findings of the February 15, 2008 letter from R&M Consultants and directs Clay Koplin, CEO,
to proceed with restoring the Humpback Creek Hydroelectric Project to a functioning, sustainable project.
