Dear Mr. White,
The Cbignik Bay Tribal Coimcil is the federally recognized representative of the Alaska
Native people living in Chignik, Alaska. We would like to offer our support for the City
of Chignik's grant application to study the feasibility of a new hydroelectric system on
Indian Creek. The existing dam, pipeline, and generator are old and in disrepair. Makirg
the best use of the creek's renewable energy will require an updated plan, including
design of new infrastructure and a new analysis of such as project's economy.
We are also encouraged by the proposed cooperation between the City of Chignik and
Trident Seafoods. The community is now fully behind developing this renewable
resource for the benefit of everyone.
please support the proposal to fund this feasibility study. 'rhe Chignik Bay Tribal
Council is currently building a new, sub -regional clinic, and we are excited about our
city's continued growth and stability. As Chignik continues to grow, the need for energy
will grow in turn. The cost savings associated with using hydroelectric power will allow
the community to direct its resources into projects that will directly benefit our residents
and the future of our community.
Sincerely,
Roderick Carlson,'Fribal President
