FALSE PASS KING COVE SAND POINT
RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE ALEUTIANS EAST BOROUGH AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION IN
THE RURAL ALASKA RENEWABLE ENERGY GRANT PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, The Aleutians East Borough wishes to reduce energy costs and lower dependence
upon diesel fuel in its smallest communities of Cold Bay, False Pass, and Nelson Lagoon; and
WHEREAS, the Borough wishes to help the communities take advantage of identified locally
available renewable resources such as wind power, hydro, tidal/current and, if available, waste
heat recovery; and
WHEREAS, The Aleutians East Borough wishes to apply for a grant in the amount of $25,000 to
conduct a Renewable Energy Reconnaissance Study as described in the attached proposal;
and
WHEREAS, the Aleutians East Borough, as a local government entity, is an eligible applicant
and is in good standing with respect to its credit and federal tax obligations; and
WHEREAS, the Aleutians East Borough agrees use the reconnaissance report to assist the
communities of Cold Bay, False Pass and Nelson Lagoon to reduce their energy costs and
dependence on diesel fuels; and
WHEREAS, this entity is an applicant for a grant from the Alaska Energy Authority, under the
Renewable Energy Program; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Mayor of the Aleutians East Borough is
hereby authorized to negotiate and execute any and all documents required for granting and
managing funds on behalf of this organization.
The mayor is also authorized to execute subsequent amendments to said grant agreement to
provide for adjustments to the project within the scope of services or tasks, based upon the
needs of the project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Aleutians East Borough agrees to provide in -kind grant
administration and project management and $5,000 (cash) as a match for this grant.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE ALEUTIANS EAST BOROUGH on this 11th day of
October 2008.
