Last winter (1983-84) 25-30 moose were killed in Game Mgt. Unit 14B (highway from Willow to Talkeetna), this was considered a below normaJ estimate due to mild winter conditiQns. In the severe winter of 1978-79, J71 moose were killed by autos in unit 14B, during the mild winter of 1982-83 22 moose were killed. 35-50 moose were estimated to be the average number of animals killed due to moose-auto collisions in the course of a year in unit ~B.
