GAME MANAGEMENT UNITS
18. Unit 18, Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta.
That area d r aining into the Yukon and Kuskokwim
Rivers downstream from a straight line drawn between
Low er Kalskag and Paimiut and into all streams flowing
into the Bering Sea from Cape Newenham on the south
to and including the Pastolik River drainage on the
north; Nunivak and adjacent islands .
19. Unit 19, McGrath .
All of the drainages into the Kuskokwim River up-
stream from a straight line drawn between Lower Kal-
skag and Paim iut.
A. Subunit 19(A)-That area drained by the
Kuskokwim River downstream from and including the
Moose Creek drainage on the north bank and down-
stream from and including the Stony River drainage,
excluding that portion listed in Subunit 19(B).
B. Subunit 19(B)-That portion of Unit 19 drain-
ed by the Aniak River upstream from and including the
Salmon River; that area drained by the Holitna River
upstream from and including Bakbuk Creek; that area
south of a line running directly between the mouth of
Bakbuk Creek on the Holitna River and the radar dome
at Sparrevohn Air Force Base including that area drained
by the Hoholitna River upstream from that line ; and the
drainage of the Stony River upstream from and includ-
ing the drainage of Can Creek.
C. Subunit 19(C)-That portion of Unit 19 south
and west of a line from Benchmark M 1.26 (approximate-
ly 1.26 miles south of the northwest corner of the origi-
nal Mt. McKinley National Park Boundary) to Lone
Mountain, and thence due west to Big River; the drain-
age of Big River upstream from the intersection of this
line; and the drainage of Swift River upstream from and
including the drainage of the North Fork.
D . Subunit 19(D)-The remainder of Unit 19 .
20. Unit 20, Fairbanks-Central Tanana .
That area drained by the Yukon River upstream
from and including the Tozitna River drainage to and
including the Hamlin Creek drainage, including the
Tanana River and its tributaries north of Unit 13 and
downstream from the boundary of Unit 12; by the tribu-
taries draining into the south bank of the Yukon River
upstream from and including the Charley R i ver drainage
to the Alaska-Canada boundary; and by the Alaska
drainage of Ladue and Fortymile Rivers.
A. Su bunit 20(A)-That portion of Unit 20
bounded on the east by the west bank of the Delta
River from the boundary of Unit 13 to the Tanana
River; bounded on the north by the north bank of the
Tanana River from the confluence of the Delta River
downstream to the confluence of the Nenana River;
bounded on the west by the east bank of the Nenana
River from its confluence with the Tanana River
upstream to the boundary of Unit 13.
B. Subunit 20(B)-That portion of Unit 20 drain-
ing into the north bank of the Tanana River upstream
from and including Hot Springs Slough to and includ-
ing the Banner Creek drainage.
C. Subunit 20(C)-That portion of Unit 20
draining into the south bank of the Tanana River west
of the western boundary of Subunit 20(A) down-
stream to the confluence of the Tanana and Yukon
Rivers, including the islands in the Tanana River.
D. Subunit 20(D)-That portion of Unit 20
draining into the north bank of the Tanana River from
the confluence of the Robertson and Tanana Rivers
downstream to, but not including, the Banner Creek
drainage; and that portion draining into the south
bank of the Tanana River from the west bank of the
Delta River to the Unit 12 boundary ; and islands in
the Delta River from the Delta River to the Tanana
niver.
E. Subunit 20(E)-That portion of Unit 20 drain-
ing into the south bank of the Yukon River upstream
from and including the Charley River drainage and in-
cluding the Ladue River drainage within Alaska .
F. Subunit 20(F)-The remainder of Unit 20.
21. Unit 21, Middle Yukon.
That area draining into the Yukon River from a
straight line drawn between Lower Kalskag and Paimiut
upstream to but not including the Tozitna River drain·
age on the north side of the Yukon River and up to but
not including the Tanana River drainage on the south
side of the Yukon River; the Koyukuk River upstream
to and including the Dulbi River drainage .
A . Subunit 21 (A)-That portion of Unit 21 which
includes the lnnoko River drainage upstream from and
including the ldi tarod River drainage , and that portion
of the Nowitna River drainage upstream from the con-
fluence of the Little Mud and Nowitna Rivers .
B. Subunit 21(B)-That portion of Unit 21
drained by the Yukon River upstream from Ruby and
east of a line from Ruby to Yuki Mountain to the
northern boundary of Subunit 21(A), including the
Sulatna River drainage.

That area drained by the Koyukuk River and its
tributaries upstream from but not including the Dulbi
River drainage.
25. Unit 25, Fort Yukon.
That area draining into the Yukon River upstream
from Hamlin Creek to the Alaska -Canada boundary and
the Subunit 20(E) boundary.
A . Subunit 25(A)-That portion of Unit 25 drain-
ed by the Hodzana River upstream from the Narrows,
the Chandalar River drainage upstream from and includ-
ing the East Fork drainage, the Christian River drainage
upstream from the village of Christian , the Sheenjek
River drainage upstream from and including Thluichohn -
jek Creek, the Coleen River drainage, and the Old Crow
River drainage lying within Alaska.

B. Subunit 25(B)-That portion of Unit 25 drain-
ed by the Little Black River upstream from but not
including the Big Creek drainage ; the Black River drain-
age upstream from and including the Salmon Fork drain-
age; the Porcupine River drainage upstream from the
confluence of the Coleen and Porcupine Rivers; and by
the tributaries draining into the north bank of the
Yukon River upstream from the village of Circle to the
Alaska-Canada border , including the islands in the
Yukon River.
C. Subunit 25(C)-That portion of Unit 25 drain-
ing into the south bank of the Yukon River upstream
from the village of Circle to the Subunit 20(E) bound -
ary, the Birch Creek drainage upstream from the Steese
Highway bridge (milepost 147), the Preacher Creek
drainage upstream from and including the Rock Creek
drainage and the Beaver Creek drainage upstream from
and including the Moose Creek drainage.
D . Subunit 25(D)-The remainder of Unit 25 .
26. Unit 26, Arctic Slope.
That area drained by all streams and rivers flowing
into the Arctic Ocean between Cape Lisburne and the
Alaska-Canada boundary; and the Firth River drainage
·lying within Alaska .
A . Subunit 26(A)-That portion of Unit 26 lying
west of the area drained by the Itkillik River and its
tributaries, and west of the east bank of the Colville
River between the mouth of the Itkillik River and the
Arctic Ocean.
B . Subunit 26(B)-That portion of Un i t 26 lying
east of Subunit 26(A) and west of the west banks of the
Canning River and Marsh Fork of the Canning River
between the Arctic Ocean and Carter Pass .
C. Subunit 26(C)-That portion · of Un it 26 lying
east of Subunit 26(B).
NOTICE: This map is not drawn to scale, nor is
it sufficiently accurate to reflect specific unit
boundaries . If there is doubt concerning unit
boundaries they should be determined using the
written descriptions of game management units
and large-scale topographical maps of the area.
Because of the extreme small size of some areas
having specific state restrictions, they are not
shown on this map. Please refer to Articles 6, 7
and 8 of the Hunting Regulations and Articles 5
and 6 of the Trapping Regulations for this
information.
This map and State Hunting and Trapping
Regulations reflect Board of Game regulations.
Persons are advised that additional restrictions
may be imposed by the land manager.
DESCRIPTIONS OF
GAME MANAGEMENT UNITS
5 AAC 90 .010 General provisions.
The taking of game shall be limited to the respective
open seasons, bag limits and other applicable provisions
as prescribed in relation to twenty-six geographical areas
of the state designated as Game Management Units as
described in this part .
1. Unit 1, Southeast Mainland.
The Southeast Alaska mainland from Dixon En·
trance to Cape Fairweather and those islands lying east
of Clarence Strait from Dixon Entrance to Camano
Point and all islands in Stephens Passage and Lynn Canal
north of Taku Inlet.
A. Subunit 1(A)-That portion of Unit 1 lying
south of Lemesurier Point, including al! drainages i nto
Behm Canal and excluding all drainages into Ernest
Sound.
B. Subunit 1 (B)-That portion of Unit 1 lying
between Lemesurier Point and Cape Fanshaw, including
all drainages into Ernest Sound and Farragut Bay ,
including adjacent islands easterly of the center lines of
Frederick Sound, Dry Straits (between Sergief and
Kadin Islands), Eastern Passage , Blake Channel (exclud·
ing Blake Island), Ernest Sound and Seward Passage.
C. Subunit 1 (C)-That portion of Unit 1 lying
between Cape Fanshaw and the latitude of Eldred Rock ,
including Sullivan Island and the drainages into Berners
Bay and excluding the drainages into Farragut Bay .
D. Subunit 1 (D)-That portion of Un i t 1 lying
north of the latitude of Eldred Rock, excluding Sullivan
Island and the drainages into Berners Bay .

2. Unit 2, Prince of Wales.
Prince of Wales and all adjacent islands bounded by
a line drawn from Dixon Entrance in the center of
Clarence, Kashevarof and Sumner Straits to and includ ·
ing Warren Island, in Southeastern Alaska .
3. Unit 3, Petersburg-Wrangell.
Coronation, Kuiu, Kupreanof, Mitkof, Zaremba,
Koshevarof, Woronkofski, Etolin, Wrangell, Deer and all
adjacent islands in Southeastern Alaska.
4. Unit 4, Admiralty-Baranof-Chichagof.
Admiralty, Baranof, Chichagof, Yakobi , lnian, Le -
mesurier, Pleasant and adjacent islands in Southeastern
Alaska.
5. Unit 5, Yakutat.
That area draining into the Gulf of Alaska from
Cape Fairweather to the middle of Icy Bay and the west
side of the Guyot Hills.
A. Subunit 5(A)-That portion of Unit 5 lying east
of Yakutat Bay, Disenchantment Bay and the Hubbard
Glacier, and including all the islands of Yakutat and
Disenchantment Bays .
B. Subunit 5(B)-That portion of Unit 5 lying
west of Yakutat Bay , Disenchantment Bay and the
eastern edge of the Hubbard Glacier.
6. Unit 6, Cordova·Valdez.
That area draining into the Gulf of Alaska and
Prince William Sound from the middle of Icy Bay and
the west side of the Guyot Hills to Cape Fairfield
excluding the Nellie Juan and Kings River drainages,
but not extending above Miles Glacier on the Copper
River ; and Kayak, Hinchinbrook, Montague and adja-
cent islands and Middleton Island.
A. Subunit 6(A)-That portion of Unit 6 with
drainages into the Gulf of Alaska east of Palm Point
(near Katalla) including Kanak, Wingham and Kayak
Islands .
B. Subunit 6(B)-That portion of Unit 6 lying east
of the west bank of the Copper River and a line between
Flag Point and Cottonwood Point ; and the drainages
into the Copper River or Gulf of Alaska west of Palm
Point (near Katalla).
C. Subunit 6(C)-That portion of Unit 6 lying east
of the east bank of Rude River and along the eastern
shore of Nelson Bay and Orca Inlet and west of the west
bank of the Copper River including that area west of a
line between Flag Point and Cottonwood Point.
D. Subunit 6(0)-The remainder of Unit 6 .
7. Unit 7, Seward
That portion of the Kenai Peninsula which
drains into the Gulf of Alaska between Gore Point
and Cape Fairfield, and including the Nellie Juan and
Kings River drainages; the drainages into the Kenai
River upstream from its confluence with the Russian
River from the east and the drainages into Turnagain
Arm south of the Twentymile River drainages anci
east of longitude line 150 ooo ·w starting at the mouth
of the Russian River, thence northerly along that line
to the coast line of Chickaloon Bay in Turnagain Arm .
8 . Unit 8, Kodiak-Shelikof.
Kodiak, Afognak, Chirikof, and Semidi and all other
adjacent offshore islands.
9. Unit 9, Alaska Peninsula.
That part of the Alaska Peninsula and adjacent
mainland which drains into the Pacific Ocean and west
side of Cook Inlet from False Pass and the mouth of
Redoubt Creek and into Bristol Bay from False Pass to
Etolin Point on the eastern entrance to Nushagak Bay .
A. Subunit 9(A)-That portion of Unit 9 which
drains into Shelikof Strait and Cook Inlet between
the boundary of Unit 16 and the northern boundary of
Katmai National Park & Preserve.
B. Subunit 9(B)-That portion of Unit 9 drained
by the Kvichak River.
C. Subunit 9(C)--That portion of Unit 9 drained
by Alagnak (Branch) and Naknek Rivers, and in·
eluding all lands within Katmai National Park &
Preserve.

D. Subunit 9(D)-That portion of Unit 9 south
and west of a line drawn from the head of Port Moiler
Bay to the head of American Bay, including the Shuma-
gin Islands and other isla nds to the w est of that line.
E. Subunit 9(E)-The remainder of Unit 9 .
10. Unit 10, Aleutian Islands.
The Aleutian Islands and the Pribilof Islands.
11. Unit 11, Wrangell Mountains-Chitina River.
That area draining into the headwaters of the
Copper River south of Suslota Creek and the area
drained by all tributaries into the east bank of the
Copper River between the confluence of Suslota Creek
with the Slana River and Miles Gl a ci~r .
12. Unit 12, Upper Tanana-White River.
That area drained by the Tanana River and its
tributaries upstream from the east bank of the Robert-
son River to the Alaska-Canada boundary and the White
River and its tributaries except the Ladue River lying
within Alaska .
13. Unit 13, Nelchina-Upper Susitna.
That area westerly of the east bank of the Copper
River and drained by all tributaries into the west bank of
the Copper River from Miles Glacier and including the
Slana River drainages north of Suslota Creek; the drain ·
ages into the Delta River upstream from Clear Creek and
Black Rapids Glacier; the drainage into the Nenana River
upstream from the southeast corner of Mt. McKinley
National Park at Windy; the drainage into the Susitna
River upstream from its junction, the drainage with the
Chulitna River; the drainage into the east bank of the

Chulitna River upstream to its confluence with Tokosit·
na River; the drainages of the Chulitna River (south of
Mt. McKinley National Park) upstream from its conflu·
ence with the Tokositna River; the drainages into the
north bank of the Tokositna River upstream to the base
of the Tokositna Glacier ; the drainages into the Tokos i t -
na Glacier; the drainage into the ea st bank of the Susitna
River between its confluence with the Talkeetna and
Chul i tna Rivers; the drainage into the north bank of the
Chickaloon River drainages of the Matanuska River
above its confluence with the Chickaloon River .
A. Subunit 13(A)-Beginning at the Chickaloon
River bridge at Mile 77.7 on the Glenn Highway, then
along the Glenn Highway to its junction with the
Richardson Highway , then south along the Richardson
Highway to the foot of Simpson Hill at Mile 111.5, then
due east to the east bank of the Copper River, then
northerly along the east bank of the Copper River to its
junction with Gulkana River, then northerly along the
west bank of the Gulkana River to its junction with the
West Fork of the Guikana River, then westerly along the
west bank of the West Fork of the Gulkana River to its
source , an unnamed lake, then across a divide into the
Tyone River, then down an unnamed stream into the
Tyone River, then down the Tyone River to the Susitna
River , then down the southern bank of the Susitna River
to the mouth of Kosina Creek, then up Kosina Creek to
its headwaters, then across a divide and dow11 Aspen
Creek to the Talkeetna River, then southerly along the
boundary of Game Management Unit 13 to the Chicka·
loon River bridge, of beginning .
B. Subunit 13(B)-Beginning at the confluence of
the Copper River and the Gulkana River , then up the
east bank of the Copper Ri ver to the confluence with
the Gakona River, then up the Gakona River and the
Gakona Glacier to the boundary of Game Management
Unit 13, then westerly along the boundary of Game
Management Unit 13 to the Susitna Glac ier , then south-
erly along the west bank of the Susitna Glacier and the
Susitna River to the Tyone River , then up Tyone River
and across a divide to the headwaters of the West Fork
of the Gulkana River, then down the West Fo rk of the
Gulkana River to its confluence with the Copper River ,
the point of beginning.
C. Subunit 13(C)-That portion of Game Manage ·
ment Unit 13 east of the Gakona River and Gakona
Glacier .
D. Subunit 13(D)-That portion of Gam e Manage-
ment Unit 13 south of Subunit 13(A).
E. Subunit 13(E)-The remainder of Unit 13.
14. Unit 14, Anchorage.
That area draining into the north side of Turn -
again Arm north of Portage Creek drainage into Knik
Arm including the drainages of the west bank of the
Chickaloon River and all drainages below its con-
fluence with the Matanuska River; into the head of
Cook Inlet east of the Susitna River, and into all
tributaries into the east bank of the Susitna River
upstream to the north bank of the Talkeetna River.

A. Subunit 14(A)-That portion of Unit 14 bound·
ed on the south by Cook Inlet and Knik Arm ; the south
bank of the Knik River from its mouth upstream to its
junction with Knik Glacier, thence across the face of
Knik Glacier and along the north side of Knik Glacier to
the Unit 6 boundary; on the west by the Big Susitna
River ; on the north by Willow Creek, and Peters Creek
and along a line from the headwaters of Peters Creek to
the headwaters of the Chickaloon River ; and on the east
by the eastern boundary ot Unit 14.
B. Subunit 14(B)-That portion of Unit 14 lying
north of Subunit 14(A).
C. Subunit 14(C)-That portion of Unit 14 bound·
ed on the north by Knik Arm and the southern bound -
ary of Subunit 14(A); on the east by the boundary of
Unit 6; on th'e south by the boundary of Unit 7 and
Turnagain Arm.
15. Unit 15, Kenai.
That part of the Kenai Peninsula draining into the
Gulf of Alaska, Cook Inlet and Turnaga in Arm from
Gore Point to the point where longitude line 150°00'W
crosses the coast line of Chickaloon Bay in Turnagain
Arm and lying west of longitude line 150°00'W to the
mouth of the Russian River, thence southerl y along the
Chugach National Forest boundary to the upper end of
Upper Russian Lake ; and including the drainages into
Upper Russian Lake west of the Chugach National
Forest boundary. ·
A. Subunit 15(A)-That portion of Uni t 15 bound ·
ed on the south by the Kenai River and Skilak Lake.
B. Subunit 15(B)-That portion of Unit 15 north
of the Kasilof River, Tustumena Lake, Glacier Creek and
Tustumena Glacier; and south of the Kena i River and
Skilak Lake .
C. Subunit 15(C)-That pcrtion of Unit 15 south
of the Kasilof River, Tustumena Lake, Glacier Creek and
Tustumena.Giacier.
16. Unit 16, Lower Susitna.
The drainage into the wes t side of Cook Inlet from
and including Redoubt Creek, including Kalgin Island,
northward to and including the Susitna River ; the
drainage from the west and including the Susitna River
upstream to its junction with the Chulitna River; the
drainage from the west into and including the Chulitna
River below i ts confluence with the Tokositna River; the
drainage from the south into and including the Tokosit·
na River upstream to the base of the Tokositna Glacier,
which includes the drainage of the Kanitula Glacier.
A. Subunit 16(A)-That portion of Unit 16 lying
east of the Kahiltna Glacier and the eastern bank of the
Kahiltna River to its confluence with the Yentna River;
thence down the eastern bank of the Y e >tna to the
Susitna River; thence due east across the Susitna River
to its eastern bank .
B. Subunit 16(B)-The remainder of Unit 16 .
17. Unit 17, Bristol Bay.
That part of the mainland draining into Bristol Bay
between Etolin Point and Cape Newenham, and the
islands adjacent to the mainland between the above-
named points.
A. Subunit 17(A)-That portion of Unit 17 that
drains into Bristol Bay between Cape Newenham and
Cape Constantine, including Hagemeister Island and the
Walrus Islands.
B. Subunit 17(B)-That portion of Unit 17 drain-
ed by the Nushagak River upstream from its confluence
with the Mulchatna River, including that area drained by
Mulchatna River; that portion of the Wood River drain-
e upstream from the outlet of Lake Beverly.
C. Subunit 17(C)-The remainder of Unit 17.
