FERC inquiry dated March 4~ 1985. Information gathered related to FERC question #2, clearing and burning of material in the proposed reservoirs. NOTES Mr. Dennis Pendleton, Pacific Northwest Experiment Station, U.S. Forest Service, 2221 E. Northern Lights Blvd., Anchorage, AK. (272-5502) --was questioned by phone to determine the moisture content of cut vegetation. Mr. Pendleton responded by saying fresh cut timber and brush that are: 1) cut in the winter and covered with a plastic tarp, 2) left under the tarp until late August or early September, and are piled in a way so as to minimize the amount of dirt mixed in with the vegetation; will have a moisture content of 100 to 150% (on a scale of 300% being maximum). The extreme moisture ranges would be from 85% to 160%, but under the above conditions 100-150% could be expected by late August or early September.
