HomeMy WebLinkAboutAlaska Energy Data Gateway and Inventory Fact Sheet 06-14-2016-A Alaska Energy Data Gateway (AEDG) and Inventory (AEDI) https://akenergygateway.alaska.edu/ akenergyinventory.org The Alaska Energy Data Inventory focuses on access to Alaska's energy data in easy to digest formats. Data products include an interactive mapping website for the Renewable Energy Atlas of Alaska, energy resource assessment maps, and a searchable reports library. The AEDI began as a collaborative effort between AEA, Department of Natural Resources (DNR), and the University’s Geographic Information Network of Alaska (GINA). The programming team at GINA continues to support a web-based interactive map, library of publications, gallery of images, links to download GIS data and a portal to hydrological investigations. The Alaska Energy Data Gateway (AEDG) was launched in late 2013 and continues to develop as an online database with energy data, most of it at the community level, from across Alaska. The site provides baseline temporal data such as the Alaska Energy Statistics, fuel price surveys, and Renewable Energy Fund project performance data in a user-friendly format and through a single access point with data available for download in a variety of file formats. The Gateway hosts data from AEA, Department of Labor, Division of Community and Regional Affairs, U.S. Energy Information Administration and others. Current Status: Collaborative work with the Alaska Energy Data Gateway (AEDG) and the Alaska Energy Data Inventory (AEDI) teams was initiated in March and has resulted in new functionality allowing a snapshot of community energy data housed on the AEDG to be displayed through the GIS supported map interface of the AEDI. The AEDI library also now contains all hydro, wind and biomass reports including feasibility studies and site specific resource data where available. The inventory was also moved onto a platform that allows AEA to take management of content in-house, reducing the cost of contracting for support in upcoming years. The AEDG datasets have been expanded in the last several months to include 2012 powerhouse and 2015 bulk fuel assessments, building inventory and updated energy statistics tables for all of Alaska. The AEDG is the database from which the Affordable Energy Strategy model draws. AEDG and AEDI demonstration site created by GINA Reviewed: June 14, 2016
