Report: September 30, 2011 – Report #5
Project Activities Completed:
1. Completed the biomass financial analysis for the utility;
2. First draft of the integrated biomass/powerhouse business plan is in review by GZ
Corporation;
3. Site control plan has been agreed to by GZ Corp, MOU is in process of completion.
4. A second draft of a Biomass 5 year harvest plan has been shared with the village, final draft
is expected final quarter 2011;
5. Harvest Equipment Grant has been signed and the first two pieces of equipment have been
purchased and delivered to Fort Yukon on the last barges; Equipment procurement
continues with and expected date of havest to start in January – February 2012.
6. Forest Environmental Analysis Initiated; the EA process needs to be revisited and
potentially restructured based on additional funding and project structure.
7. CDR report for biomass and new power house initiated but waiting on final site control to
be completed;
8. CATG has had personnel changes and Bryan Maracle, Director Natural Resource
Department is now actively managing the project in cooperation with Fannie Carroll,
General Manager of GZ Corporation;
9. The recent annual meeting of the GZ Corporation was attended by Bill Wall and Bryan
Maracle to report on the progress of the biomass and powerhouse project. The
shareholders are in full support of the projects.
Existing or Potential Problems:
No major problems or issues are expected at this time.
Activities Targeted for Next Reporting Period:
1. Finalize the integrated business plan;
2. Finalize the 5‐year harvest plan;
3. Field training for timber sale layout for CATG employees.
4. Continue development of the forestry EA;
5. Continue procurement process of the harvest equipment;
6. Development of the grant agreement for the construction grant;
7. Training for harvest equipment operations;
8. Develop and sign heat purchase agreement;
9. Restructure EA process to recognize funding sources;
10. Apply for timber sale permits.
11. Finalize remodel of secure storage for harvest equipment
