Work was done in a 25 mile radius around the community to determine the types and amounts of various wood resources. A crew of five to six worked on this project. The inventory data collection process lasted approximately four (4) weeks. Travel to the areas surveyed was via: 4-wheelers, boat or helicopter. The report from this inventory is to be completed and delivered to the Louden Tribal Council and Biomass Committee by October 30, 2012. The feasibility study was completed. A draft was presented at a community meeting in August. During this time the results of the study were presented to the community and it was open to questions and answers. In this draft (attached to this document) is provided the vital information we will be using for our next steps in the project. During the community meeting there was a great deal of interest in how the biomass project could eventually provide a benefit not only to the school but for the entire community. Existing or Potential Problems: The only problem that occurred during this period involved the weather. This caused delays in the schedule for the inventory as it was not safe to travel to the locations, or when in the locations visibility was limited which created safety concerns. However the work did progress and the inventory was completed. Activities Targeted for Next Reporting Period: 1. Forest Inventory report due. *,/ / 2. Final Management Plan presented to the community. 1/ 3. Community Meeting planned for Klnvember. yy 4. Meeting to discuss next steps. V 5. Meeting with the City of Galena to develop agreement on the use of the equipment the City has available for use in the initial startup of the project.
