On January 5th, a site visit and warranty inspection was conducted to Venete with Rebecca
Garrett of the Alaska Energy Authority. The clinic heat recovery system was inoperative due to
low return temperature alarm and cut-off. The heat exchanger in the power plant was
completely valved off. The cooling system in the power plant was manually placed in full bypass
with all available heat being directed to the radiators. It appears that the AMOT valve is non-
functional.
Flow was restored to the power plant heat exchanger and the clinic heat recovery system was
placed in hand mode (manual). The clinic heat recovery system came up to operating
temperature and took over the heating load from the boiler.
No warrantable items or components were found to be defective. A new glycol make-up tank
and 5-gallons of propylene glycol were delivered to the clinic but not yet installed. Mr. Manuel
Gamboa, the clinic maintenance person, stated that he want to wait until summer before
installing so as to not place the clinic heat recovery system at risk during the winter months.
As -built drawings were prepared and forwarded to Alaska Energy Authority.
Existing or Potential Problems:
Operational and/or mechanical issues at the power plant has resulted in shutdown of the clinic
heat recovery system.
Activities Targeted for Next Reporting Period:
Operations will continued to be monitored and BTU readings gathered.
