State of Alaska © 2012 1 webmaster http://gov.alaska.gov/pamelllserviceslboards-commissions/board-roster.html?i=256.html 10/11 /2012 Board Factsheets - Sean Parnell, 1 Oth Governor of Alaska Page 1 of 1 Boards & Commissions Factsheets RENEWABLEENERGY Board: Renewable Energy Fund Advisory Committee Board identification number: 256 Department: DCCED Authority: AS 42.45.045 Status: Active Sunset date: AS 42.45.045 Prohibitions: None Term: 3 years Description: The board consists of seven members, five of which are appointed by the governor to staggered three-year terms, with one representative from each of the following groups: small Alaska rural electric utilities; large Alaska urban electric utilities; Alaska Native organizations; businesses or organizations engaged in the renewable energy sector; and the Denali Commission established under P.L. 105- 277, 42 U.S.C. 3121 note. One member of the House of Representatives shall be appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and one member of the Senate shall be appointed by the President of the Senate. Function: The board works to consult with the Alaska Energy Authority as it develops eligibility criteria for grants from a renewable energy grant fund, develops methodology for determining the order of projects that may receive grants from that fund, and adopts regulations identifying criteria to evaluate the benefit and feasibility of projects seeking legislative support. The Advisory Committee will also consult with the Authority as the Authority makes recommendations to the legislature for renewable power production reimbursement grants and for projects that finance feasibility studies, reconnaissance studies, energy resource monitoring, and construction of renewable energy projects, natural gas projects, or transmission or distribution infrastructure located in Alaska. It will also consult with the Authority as the Authority prepares and submits within the first 10 days of each regular legislative session a report to the legislature summarizing, reviewing, and recommending in order of priority all applications submitted for grants under Chapter 31 SLA 08.
